| Probably the most unconventional unit of the U.S. forces in Vietnam, the MACV-SOG ("Military Assistance Command Vietnam - Studies and Observation Group") was composed primarily of U.S. Army Special Forces personnel, but also contained members from the Marine Recon, Air Force Special Ops, and Navy SEALs. Their various (and usually extremely hazardous) missions included covert ops and sabotage behind enemy lines, cross-border missions into Laos and Cambodia, as well as prisoner of war intelligence and rescue. |
