Lufthansa is not only known as one of the world´s leading passenger airline but also as one of the largest cargo carriers. Scheduled cargo operations were first operated by subsidiary Lufthansa Cargo Airlines while German Cargo Airlines operated charter cargo flight with a fleet of Boeing 707s and Douglas DC-8s. In 1995 both companies joined their operations and became the new company Lufthansa Cargo Aktiengesellschaft.

Lufthansa Cargo became the first airline to operate the Boeing 747-200 Freighter on 14 April 1972. Boeing 747-230F D-ABYU was delivered to Lufthansa Cargo Airlines in September 1981 and is still in service with the "new" airline together with a further 7 747-200 Freighter and 14 McDonnell Douglas MD-11F. We are proud to bring you this model of D-ABYU in the delivery colors of one of the world´s leading cargo carriers.
