During the 1980s, Oxley Airlines operated several routes in the south of Queensland and in the northern sector of New South Wales. This private commuter company used Piper Chieftains. Operating from their base at Port Macquarie, flights were operated to Brisbane, Casino, Coffs Harbour, Coolangatta/Gold Coast, Lismore and Taree. For the Impulse Transportation Group, Oxley Airlines represented a desirable addition to their business. In December 1992, they acquired the commuter carrier and renamed it Impulse Airlines. Larger aircraft in the form of 19-seater Beech 1900s were acquired and the company developed positively. More routes were added, and consequently more Beech 1900s. On some routes, Impulse operated in co-operation with Ansett Airlines. When TamAir ceased operations in 1998, Impulse was able to take over its most important route from Tamworth to Sydney. Expansion continued, and several of their aircraft are painted in very eye-catching and colorful schemes. An ambitious new venture from June 2000 was the acquisition of factory-fresh Boeing 717s for use on low-cost/low-fare services in competition with Qantas. We take pride in epitomising this significant event in Australian civil aviation history by releasing the Impulse B717 for 1:400 scale collectors. A new mold, an auspicious carrier.....Don't miss this one!
