FedEx has been a DC-10-30F operator for many years before acquiring the MD-11 for its long-haul cargo work. It now has 29 examples in service with a further 29 on order, the bulk of which are ex-American Airlines converted to freighter configuration. To transport two precious Pandas from Xichuan, China to Washington DC, USA, FedEx specially decorated two of their MD-11s with a "Panda" motif on the fuselage. Aircraft registration N583FE was designated "Panda One" whilst N584FE was designated for support purposes. The historical flight, made on 6 December 2000, was 23 hours long with a fuel stop at Anchorage, Alaska. To commemorate this event, we are pleased to release "Panda One" especially for collectors of special liveries.
