European aviation enthusiasts were pleasantly surprised to see an Alitalia DC-10-30 in June 1994, since the Italian flag carrier had disposed of its DC-10 fleet years earlier. The 'mystery' was revealed when the port side of this aircraft was viewed, as it was painted in the colors of Continental Airlines. Bearing US registration N68080, this aircraft belongs to Continental (delivered on August 28 1980). The reason for the "split personality" was to publicise the joint marketing agreement between the two carriers for their New York/Newark - Rome service.
