AOM : the art of protecting animals
An MD-81 (F-FFMB), from AOM airlines was painted in deep blue and covered in stars, appealing to our sense of discovery and imagination. The idea for this makeover originated from a little girl, actually the daughter of the company pilot. Just like for America West airlines, it was baptized "Alize" and flew the Paris-Marseilles route. This is quite an interesting example, as the plane's new colors were not well received by everyone. Indeed, the morning business clientele complained that the plane was rather grotesque looking.
But the company did not sto there, as a year later, the company operated its DC-10-30, flying in French Guyana with the WWF (World Wildlife Foundation) logo on its body. We could thus see on each side of the plane WWF protected species: The red Ibis, the Jaguar, the Lute Turtle and the white Emu.
A more aggressive view was posted on another DC-10-30, stating in French "Je veux rester a Orly Ouest", directly criticizing the new terminallocations in Orly airport. Nevertheless and under Air France's supervision, AOM still had to leave Orly-ouest for the South of the terminal.
