The troops call my Desert Training Center "Little Libya", because it so closely simulates the weather and terrain conditions in North Africa. This is the largest training center in the world right now, and it's estimated that 60,000 troops will train here before we're through. It is my mission to toughen these boys mentally and physically to withstand the rigors of desert warfare for extended periods, so that means real combat conditions -- days without sleep, field rations, limited access to water. When these troops are through, they will be honed to a razor's edge -- and well prepared to meet the enemy in Africa when the real fighting starts!
