Originally formed as a brigade in 1943, the 1.Ski-Jäger-Division was officially activated in Bavaria in mid-1944. This specialised unit, with its distinctive crossed-ski insignia, was designed to operate in the same rapid, highly-mobile fashion as the regular Jäger units -- but in the more challenging winter climes of the Eastern Front. Since both sides had begun using white overgarments by this time, Christian wears special bands on his sleeves to identify himself to his comrades.
