M249 Squad Automatic Weapon or SAW ... this is the shorty version for
airborne troops. It's got a shorter barrel and a collapsible stock, but
just as much punch as the standard version. I've fired both -- and like
this one much better. It's fed by that big box of ammo, but can also fire
5.56mm ammo from a standard M16/M4 magazine port right above the main
feed.
Man, can you imagine if my grandaddy had this thing in Normandy? "Band of Brothers" would've only been one episode long! |
