

Following the success of the Tigers at Kursk, an entire heavy tank battalion of three companies with 45 Tigers was created as the III.Abteilung/Panzer-Regiment "Großeutschland", with later replacements in 1944 contributing an additional 64 tanks. The III.Abteilung/Panzer-Regiment "Großeutschland" remained on the Eastern Front without being relieved or refitted until the final surrender.
